Survival Guide to Parenting Teens
Joani Geltman is a prominent parenting expert and the author of the best-selling book, A Survival Guide To Parenting Teens. Joani’s presentation covered a broad range of issues parents face with focus on teen anxiety and stress is today’s culture. Joani revealed what teens are thinking and feeling and what developmental factors are involved. Dr. Michael Riera, author of "Uncommon Sense for Parents with Teenagers" and "Staying connected to your Teenager" helps translate what teenagers mean (but can't say) by their behaviors and attitudes. He connects research to everyday teen behavior and shows parents how to become more flexible in their responses. This can in turn help improve relationships with teenagers and enable healthier teens.

Dr. Tracy Foose is an expert in anxiety thanks to her years spent as director of the Anxiety Disorders Program at UCSF and being a Ross Valley mom with three spirited young daughters. This talk on 2/5/18 discussed a brief evolutionary history of fear and anxiety, family genetics of anxiety, what fear reveals about how the brain learns, fear and anxiety during stages of development, and how to manage fear and anxiety in children of all ages, and in ourselves.
